About Education

At Avalon Beach SLSC we offer a range of courses teaching the skills and knowledge required to participate in Surf Life Saving operations and provide water safety to our 400+ Nippers.

Each season our team of highly qualified volunteer trainers take approximately 40 Under 14s through their Surf Rescue Certificate and approximately 60 members through their Bronze Medallion. We also run advanced resuscitation courses and teach members to drive and crew the Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB), an essential part of our Surf Life Saving and rescue operations.

Our trainers are responsible for taking our 225+ patrolling members through their annual skills maintenance to ensure they remain up to date and ready to respond to any rescue or first aid situation on our beach.

Members involved in education at our Club gain nationally recognised qualifications in training and assessment which can be utilised in their careers.

We also offer CPR training to community groups through schools and sporting organisations.  For further information contact our Director of Education at [email protected].

This website provides an outline of the Surf Life Saving courses offered and links to each course syllabus. The SLSNSW Awards and Qualifications chart provides an overview of courses, education pathways and their associated units of competency.  Please check our Home page Newsfeed for upcoming course dates.
