Surf Rescue Certificate

The SRC is the introductory award for surf life savers and once you have obtained your SRC you will have gained the skills and knowledge to be able to participate as a Cadet in surf life saving, help out with Nippers Water Safety and join a patrol team.   The SRC is typically conducted over approximately 10 weeks, with mid-week theory and weekend practical application.  You must be a member of our Club and aged 13 (at the exam date) to complete your Surf Rescue Certificate.  The course covers safety and wellbeing, surf awareness and skills, the human body, resuscitation, defibrillation and basic oxygen techniques, first aid, communications, rescue techniques and beach management.  Click here for Course Syllabus (SRC)

2019 SRC (U14s):
Duration: 6 week course
Day & Time: Sunday afternoons 3-5pm
Location: 1st Day at Avalon. All other days at Palm Beach.
Start Date: Sunday 8th September 4:00pm at Avalon Beach SLSC.
Proficiency: Will be carried out on first day. Swim 200m in 5 mins plus a run/swim/run.
Bring: Wetsuits, googles, nipper cap, and pink rashie.
Uniform: Pink Rashie and nipper cap compulsory. Purchase here
Fees:    Nipper Fees  Active kids voucher can be used.
Additional Fees: $40 Training Manual (must be 34th edition), $15 CPR Mask, $30 Hi Viz Vest.  These items will be issued by the Club and payable by invoice.
Assessment date: Late October. Please note kids are not permitted to sit the assessment until they pass the proficiency swim.
Assessment cut offs: Kids who are returning Avalon nippers who don’t make the age cut will have a separate assessment for them when they reach the minimum age.
Attendance:  A minimum of 80% attendance is required to pass. If you can’t make this then this course is not for you.
